How mindfully do you go through life? And what is mindfulness anyway?
Today awareness is known by the buzzword mindfulness. It describes a state of presence of mind in which a person perceives themselves and the environment in the moment without making judgments. Just BE PRESENT!
The world's religions have always practiced mindfulness, e.g. the silent prayer of Christians and meditation of Buddhists. Today, mindfulness methods have also found their way into Western medicine and psychology.
The positive effects on our daily lives have been scientifically proven. This is true both physically and psychologically. Sigmund Freud already recognized its importance. Today we know that it helps our subjective well-being and that we can deal better with stressful situations (resilience). Success has even been achieved with chronic pain patients.
Mindfulness is also the basis for emphatic behavior. Because mindfulness can be trained, you can also learn empathy and compassion. You will also improve your interpersonal relationships. Because you take ME-time, you actively care about your personal development and thus make yourself effective and self-confident.
And the best part of it all; it just takes a little time and your will.
“Take a break and stay here with yourself in the moment.”
Here's a little exercise.
Sit or stand upright with both feet firmly anchored on the floor.
Focus on an object or person. What do you (not) perceive?
Now open your focus and capture the entire room or your environment. How has your awareness changed?
You can find out what exactly happens in the brain and how you can use it for your specific personal, team or company development in the article “Mindfulness & Neuropsychology”.
